NEST Cafe

NEST Cafe is located in Downtown Rock Island at 1524 4th Ave. Their mission is to nourish bodies and community by providing delicious, sustainably sourced food to all who enter regardless of their means. Their Pay-What-You-Can cafe is always seeking volunteers and people that want to get involved! You can sign up through the link listed below. It will include opportunities for kitchen prep, servers, dish washers, and opening/closing shifts as well! Quad City Animal Welfare Center

QCAWC is located at 724 2nd Ave W in Milan, IL and holds monthly orientations to help with animals on the first Wednesday of every month. Orientations can fill up quick, so be sure to contact Shayenne to save your place. Once you’ve completed orientation, some of the opportunities available to you will be administrative, foster care, fundraising/special events, walking dogs, socializing with cats and dogs, cleaning, and laundry.

King’s Harvest Pet Rescue, No Kill Shelter

King’s Harvest is located at 2504 W. Central Park Ave in Davenport. They are a no kill animal shelter that is always looking for people to help care for animals. Putnam Museum

The Putnam Museum is located at 1717 W. 12th St in Davenport, Iowa. Some of the different opportunities include greeting visitors, helping at special events (Polar PJ, Dino Days, etc), assisting with collections, exhibits, education, and marketing. They invite you to spend some time doing something you enjoy for the sake of our shared community.

Family Museum

The Family Museum is located at 2900 Learning Campus Drive in Bettendorf. There are a variety of ways to volunteer, such as becoming a play pal, helping at summer camps/classes, and assisting Guest Services, the Fox & Bee store, and even helping in the office. Volunteers ages 18 & older will need to undergo a background check. This is a rewarding experience creating a fun environment for the children in our community.

River Bend Food Bank

River Bend Food Bank is located at 4010 Kimmel Drive in Davenport. They also have food banks at St. Stephen’s, South Park Mall, and North Park Mall. You can assist guests with getting food at one of the pantries, help deliver food, or you can also help sort and pack food either once or on a regular basis. American Red Cross

The Quad Cities & West Central Illinois Chapter of American Red Cross can be found at 1100 River Drive in Moline, IL. They are most known for the services they provide to help care for those affected by disasters such as food, shelter, clothing, health, and mental health services. Some of the opportunities they currently have listed are Blood Donor Ambassador, Blood Transportation Specialist, Disaster Action Team, and Hero Care Caseworkers. If those don’t fit what you have in mind, you can also fill out a volunteer opportunity form and they will help to find something that’s right for you!

Quad City Botanical Center

The Quad City Botanical Center is located at 2525 4th Avenue in Rock Island. They have year round opportunities such as working in the garden and green house and education. They also have a variety of seasonal opportunities such as light hanging, winter lights activity room, light wrapping, and plant sale assistants. This is great for any age from school to retiree! Boys & Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley

Boys & Girls Club can be found at two locations: 1122 5th Avenue in Moline and 1702 N Main St in Davenport. They provide after school programs for kids ages 6 – 18. Volunteers will go through background checks and fingerprinting (a total of $60 – $30 covered by the Boys & Girls Club/$30 owed by volunteer).

Once you’ve completed these requirements, you’ll be contacted to set up your schedule. The kids at these centers are excited to see new faces and get to know you as you come in to help them with their homework and keeping them entertained until they go home for the night. A very rewarding experience for anyone that wants to help our next generation of the community.

Junior Achievement of the Heartland

Junior Achievement participates in programs with schools all across the Quad Cities. They offer their traditional model where you can volunteer for 5-6 lessons. A Program Manager will discuss your schedule with you for each lesson. Available at Davenport Elementary is JA in a Day, where you and another volunteer will teach all 5-6 lessons in one day! No matter which model you choose, it is incredibly rewarding to see the kids engaging with local community members. Junior Achievement provides you with the materials you will need to lead each lesson. Never taught a class before? Habitat for Humanity is located at 3625 Mississippi Avenue in Davenport. During their one hour orientation, you’ll take a tour and learn more about volunteer opportunities with with both Habitat for Humanity and the Habitat ReStore. Closet 2 Closet

Closet 2 Closet is located at 2623 5th Avenue Unit 102 in Rock Island. They specialize in providing donation packages to foster kids in our community, infants through 20 years old. They offer clothing, accessories, and hygiene products with current trend and age-appropriate clothing. Their goal is to inspire confidence through these products. ThePlace2B

ThePlace2B is located at 229 16th Street in Rock Island inside the YWCA. This program helps 30-60 kids every night by providing activities such as basketball, swimming and more! Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley

Big Brothers Big Sisters is located at 3247 E. 35th Street Court in Davenport , but they participate with schools and families across the Quad Cities. They offer programs that connect adults with kids (ages 6-16) to meet two to four times a month to allow for Bigs and Littles to engage in fun activities in the community, giving all participants an enriching experience. BBBS also offers School-based Mentoring where participants will meet with kids in a school environment. No matter which program you choose, meeting with kids in our community to give them positive adult relationships means the world to them and their personal development. You have the ability to make that impact on someone right here in the Quad Cities.

CASA Iowa

CASA Iowa is located at 2942 N Brady St B in Davenport. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. These volunteers are asked to help support and advocate for children currently in the Child Welfare System. The people in these positions are ordinary people with an interest in helping children and their families. Volunteers will be given training totaling 30 hours before being put in the field, so you will be provided with the resources you need to positively effect these families lives. HOBY ILCS

HOBY Illinois Central South is a nonprofit that offers leadership skills to high school sophomores. In June they host their yearly seminar. During HOBY’s four-day seminar, they need volunteers to assist as Group Facilitators, Medics, Photographers and Videographers. Tapestry Farms

Tapestry Farms is located in the Annie Wittenmyer Historical District in Davenport, but they have urban farm systems growing across the Quad Cities. If you like to garden, get in touch and let them know how you can help. Tapestry Farms also needs help with giving rides to English classes and delivering food in addition to gardening projects. Humility Homes

Humility Homes is located in Davenport, but they also service over 150 homes in the Quad Cities. They’re goal is to work towards ending homelessness and providing assistance to those in need. From May to September, you can Adopt a Property and help take care of lawncare for one of the many properties close to you. Family Resources is located at 1414 W Lombard Street in Davenport and offers a number of Survivor and Mental Health Services. YouthHope

YouthHope is located at 3928 12th Ave in Moline. They encourage and empower children and teens at their Youth Centers, Camp Summits, and other Community Outreach Programs while nurturing their relationships with Christ.

They are seeking volunteers help for their camp work day, food pantry services, mentoring, and administration projects! EveryChild (Rock Island County CASA)

EveryChild is located at 524 15th St in Moline. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) assist children in the foster care system to ensure the child’s voice is heard in court and support their needs. Advocates meet with the child, gather information, and writes a report for the judge. If you’re interested, fill out an application today! After you are accepted into the program, you will receive all necessary training. Volunteers are trained in courtroom procedure, the social service system and the inner workings of the juvenile court system. There is no special background or education required. They encourage people from all cultures and professions, and of all ethnic and educational backgrounds.

Beacon of Hope Hospice

Beacon of Hope Hospice is located at 1020 W 35th St in Davenport. Hospice volunteers play a crucial role by providing a wide variety of practical and emotional assistance. Tasks include running errands, preparing light meals, and visiting with the patient to give the family members a reprieve. Beacon of Hope performs extensive background checks on all volunteers and provides them with an orientation to help know which tasks they are allowed to do.
